School Policies

Internet Acceptable Use Policy

Internet use is for educational based work only.

You MUST NOT:

• Use the Internet without supervision .
• Use 'Proxy Avoidance' sites or attempt to get around the School's blocking/filtering systems.
• Use 3rd Party webmail accounts such as Hotmail, GMail or Yahoo! for communication. ( Unless Authorised to do so ) – Staff have school email accounts
• Use social sites such as Bebo & MySpace, chat or Instant Message programs and websites.
• Play games . This wastes valuable resources and time.
• Waste Internet bandwidth ; remember 700 other people may be trying to use it at the same time as you!
• Make purchases via shopping, auction or insurance sites.
• Download or run any program which has not been authorised by the Network Manager.
• Attempt to use Peer to Peer sites, VOIP or any other unauthorised utility.
• Download files such as executables, movies or music files (MP3s).
• Share or forward any confidential information .
• Attempt to set up any file sharing or web servers from within School.
• Connect your own device (PC, phone, PSP etc) to the School's network or Internet connection.

You MUST:

• Be polite in any communications . Poor communication reflects on you and the School. Bad language will NOT be tolerated.
• Respect Copyright and Intellectual property rights.
• Adhere to any applicable laws , including the Computer Misuse Act, Data Protection Act, Copyright, Design & Patents Act and The Telecommunications Act.
• Note that entering in to illegal or offensive activity is strictly banned (including sharing such information).

The School monitors Internet use and if you are found to be breaking this Acceptable Use Policy you may be banned and further action may be taken against you.
