Transition Arrangements
We recognise that the transition from Primary to Secondary school can be a challenging time for students and parents. We believe that secondary education should build upon students' primary experiences, whilst introducing them to a wider range of skills and experiences.
In addition, Hope High is organised as a Year based system. On entry to the school, after discussion with primary school teachers, a review of primary records and short interview in their primary school, students are placed in a mixed ability Form group. The Form group is led by a Form Tutor, who is responsible for the academic and social development of the students in the Year.
Prior to admission of Year 7 students in September of each year, students visit the school on at least two occasions, to familiarise themselves with the building and to meet key staff and students.
In June, a Parents' Evening is held to give parents the opportunity to meet staff and discuss any concerns about the forthcoming transition to secondary school. Parents are also welcome to visit and to see the school at work.
